Someone said stress is inveitable in the complexities of the modern world. How to handle it so we enjoy and flourish on our life path can be learned. We teach relaxation techniques, desensitization to sources of stress, and how to deactivate environmental stressors.

Nutritional Counseling

"You are what you eat." You have heard this most of your life, but do you really know what it means? Artificial ingredients, contaminants, even toxins and bacteria are found in the food we purchase at big grocery chains that are part of our country's huge agri-business. We can help you find alternative sources of safer food and to better select foods at the market that will satisfy and nourish you to optimal health.
Other pages of this website teach about the beneficial qualities of alkaline water; the pH of the food you consume and the results in your internal organs and systems follows that thought. Eating is essential; learning to eat what truly feeds us and brings us into balance is what we teach. Here are some suggestions for better eating choices:

  • 1. Processed sugar contains no nutrients. It is pure carbohydrate and feeds cancer as well as building fat deposits.
  • 2. Sugar substitutes like Aspartame and Sucralose may be harmful. Try honey, raw molasses or stevia instead.
  • 3. Table salt may have extra iodine and other chemicals, use sea salt or natural salt substitutes.
  • 4. Milk products cause the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Many people are lactose intolerant and don't know it.
  • 5. A meat-based diet is acidic. Better to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork.
  • 6. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful.
  • 7. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines becomes putrified, leading to toxic buildup.
  • 8. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruit helps put the body into an alkaline condition.
  • 9. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach to cellular levels within 15 minutes.
  • 10. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.
  • 11. Water: it is best to drink purified water to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
  • 12. Supplements add lost nutrients to our diet, help our bodies cleanse, and build up the immune system. We can help you choose the herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other supplements to enchance your path.

Consistent with the nutritional counseling described above, Barbara also focuses on the pathway to a healthier, slimmer body. More than just food choices, weight loss and the maintenance of a new weight balance are lifestyle and self-image issues that challenge many of us. Some resort to extreme dieting that results in the see-saw effect of drastic weight loss and rebounding weight gain. We can help you stop the cycle.
